General Description
The Resident Directors at Central Bible University are live in professional staff members responsible for cultivating a Christ-centered residential community that fosters spiritual growth, personal maturing, and meaningful relationships. Through intentional discipleship, leadership development, and daily presence, the Resident Directors create an environment where students are known, supported, and challenged to live out their faith.
Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership and Discipleship
- Invest in the spiritual formation of residential students through intentional relationships.
- Facilitate or support regular hall based spiritual practices, including Bible study, prayer, and worship.
Community Development
- Foster a Christ-centered, welcoming, and accountable residential culture.
- Create opportunities for connection and belonging.
- Address conflict in a timely manner with a redemptive, growth-oriented approach.
- Be present on the dorm floors at least twice per week engaging with residents.
Student Development and Care
- Provide holistic support for students' personal, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
- Engage students in conversations that promote growth and responsibility.
Student Conduct and Accountability
- Uphold community standards with a balance of grace and truth.
- Address conduct concerns through a developmental and discipleship lens.
- Communicate student development issues and needs to the Dean of Students or the Associate Dean of Students through reporting channels.
- Participate in hearings specified in the Student Handbook.
Leadership and Staff Supervision
- Recruit, train, and develop Resident Assistants.
- Empower Resident Assistants to foster community and culture on their floors.
- Provide ongoing coaching, accountability, and leadership development.
- Conduct weekly staff meetings and biweekly one on ones with Resident Assistants.
- Enforce cultural standards among Resident Assistants and ensure high levels of communication.
Dorm Management
- Make dormitory room assignments, distribute keys, and make decisions regarding room changes.
- Communicate facility maintenance needs to facilities personnel and other needs to the Vice President of Student Services.
- Enforce residence hall rules, address infractions, and respond to student requests.
- Enable Resident Assistants to enforce residence hall rules and report infractions.
- Administrate the extended hours permit process and requests for curfew variances.
- Ensure a positive experience for dorm visitors.
Campus Security
- Provide oversight and assist in maintaining safety in the dorms and on campus after business hours.
- Assist in enforcing parking regulations.
- Remain on call for campus emergencies, unless otherwise communicated with the Vice President of Student Services and other Resident Directors.
- Participate on the Student Services team, including attending team meetings, campus and student events, and other meetings requested by the Vice President of Student Services.
