What Is the Shield Fund?
For years, donors known as Minutemen stepped up when Central faced unexpected repairs, needs, and replacements. Whether inside the buildings or around the property, Minutemen made a permanent difference as Central’s most faithful group of supporters.
To continue providing this line of defense, Central now utilizes the Shield Fund. Ephesians 6:16 says, “In every situation, take up the shield of faith….” The shield symbol was part of the original Central seal and symbolizes a faithful life. It was selected for this giving program to show faith in God’s provision through His people’s generosity during unexpected difficulties.
The Shield Fund defends Central against unexpected expenses. Shield Projects are quarterly opportunities to give toward repairs, upgrades, and replacements. Every project makes a difference.

Current Shield Fund Project
Storm Damage Repair
Severe storms hit Randolph County on Monday, April 27. Though not in the direct path, the campus suffered the loss of Lang Hall’s flat roof. As a result, the lobby and Resident Director’s apartment were flooded and damaged. For over two months, insurance adjusters and contractors have been working to establish a cost and timeline for repairs. The total cost will be over $126,000 before deductibles, with about $60,000 as Central’s share.
Fortunately, the good people at International Disaster Emergency Services (IDES.org) have a tornado fund for churches and ministries and have agreed to match whatever Central’s donors give toward these repairs, up to $30,000. This means your generous gift by August 15 will be doubled.
This Shield Project is the largest need shared yet. However, the combination of our friends at IDES and our faith in God’s people gives us confidence that you will meet the challenge.
