Onsite students: Pick up caps and gowns in the Academic Office starting April 28.
Online / Master’s Program students: Pick up caps and gowns in the hallway outside the Ferneau Center on the day of Commencement.
Graduation Checklist
- Submit the Intent to Graduate Form → by September 1 for December conferral, November 1 for May conferral, or May 1 for August conferral.
- Submit the Graduation Information Form by February 28 of the semester of the ceremony.
- Clear all holds before the end of your final semester. A hold will not prevent ceremony participation or degree conferral, but it will prevent release of the diploma and/or transcript.
- Complete Exit Counseling if you have federal loans.
Commencement FAQ
How will I receive my diploma?
Diplomas will be mailed during the first week of June to graduates who have completed all graduation requirements and met all financial obligations.
How will my name appear on my diploma?
Your name will appear on your diploma as entered on your Intent to Graduate Form. No nicknames may be printed on the diploma.
What are the graduation requirements at Central Bible University?
- Complete all academic requirements as outlined in the CBU catalog at the time of initial enrollment, unless choosing to complete catalog requirements in a subsequent academic year.
- Earn a minimum of 25% of required credits toward a bachelor’s or associate degree or 50% of required credits toward a master’s degree from Central.
- Earn a minimum institutional CGPA of 2.00 for undergraduate degrees or 3.00 for graduate degrees.
- Demonstrate compliance with Central’s requirements for ministry formation and character development.
What is the requirement for academic honors for a bachelor’s degree?
Delta Epsilon Chi recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate superior achievement in academics, leadership, and Christian service as members of the academic honor society of the ABHE. Students must have at least a 3.30 GPA. Recipients are selected by the faculty.
Valedictorian and Salutatorian are granted to the students with the highest and second highest CGPA, respectively. To qualify, students must have earned 60 institutional credits, complete the final 30 credits of their degree at Central or a partner institution, and graduate within ten semesters of original enrollment.
Latin Honors recognize bachelor’s graduates with at least 60 credits taken at Central and exceptional GPA: Cum Laude, at least 3.50; Magna Cum Laude, at least 3.75; Summa Cum Laude, at least 3.90. Latin Honors are based on the cumulative institutional GPA from the semester prior to the student’s degree conferral.
